| Joey hopped to Wallaby Grove. Hey mum said Joey. Wallabies cant catch worms! They cant dig burrows or hang by their tails. And they sure cant fly. Right! said Mum. And why would they want to?. Beats me, said Joey, and kissed his mothers nose. (Im Big Enough) Im Big Enough written by Sally Odgers and illustrated by Lloyd Foye is about a little wallaby called Joey who thinks he is a big enough to hop all by himself to Wallaby Grove. His mother thinks so too but a few of her friends do not. So they decide they should escort Joey to his destination, and soon poor Joey has a whole mob following him! How will Joey ever shake them off and prove that he is big enough to hop alone? I think this story is best suited for children aged 4 to 7 years. It is an easy read. Id give this book a five out of five because of its beautiful illustrations, adorable Australian characters you can relate to, and a simple but engaging story line that kids of all ages can enjoy. |
