I dont need to go to Kookaburra School, Big Eyes told his parents.  I can eat anything you give me in your beaks.  I know how to poo over the side of the nest onto the ground.  I can even fly.

This book is about a small kookaburra who doesnt want to go to Kookaburra School. He thinks he knows everything there is to know about being a kookaburra and he doesnt need to learn anymore.

Kookaburra School is full of information about kookaburras.  It has descriptive language that is rich and interesting.  Youre hooked from the beginning because of the cute, realistic and creative pictures.  The pictures help you understand the story-line.

The size print and style is easy to read.  I recommend that this book be read-aloud or read-alone for ages 4-6, even slightly older children.  This book is definitely one I would buy for someone else.  A great story by Jill Morris.

We LOVED this book and we keep getting our teacher to read it again and again.

We liked the pictures.  They looked very real.

We learned lots about kookaburras.

We think that

  • if a kangaroo went to Kangaroo School it would have to learn to hop.
  • if a koala went to Koala School it would have to learn to climb
  • if a wombat went to Wombat School it would have to learn to dig
  • if a platypus went to Platypus School it would have to learn to swim
  • if an emu went to Emu School it would have to learn to run.

But there is lots and lots for children to learn when they go to school!
