The main characters in this story are Emma, her annoying brother David, her friend Gordo and her parents.

Emma`s mother often scanned the sky for a sign of a rain cloud. It was hot, sticky and horrible. Emma`s family was going through a terrible drought and their stock were dying out! Emma regularly struggled for ideas in which to make money, but unfortunately none of them succeeded. When Emma`s dad decides to plant a wheat crop, a swarm of locusts hit their property. All hope seems to disappear before their eyes.

In my personal opinion, this is a very interesting book. Who ever reads this should love it.  I would recommend this book to an adventurous, outback person and also children Grades 4-7.   Great book!!!

El Nino has struck. The drought is biting. The sheep are dying and her parents arent making any money. Emma uses her imagination and starts trying to sell her wild creations, but there is no success.  Emmas dad decides to grow a wheat crop but one day a swarm of marauding locusts presents the ultimate challenge for Emma and her brother David.   Can Emma help save the farm in time ?

In my personal opinion I would rate this book 7 and a half out of 10.  Its a really good book, and I would recommend it to anyone who is in the age group of 10 13, likes the Outback and is adventurous.
