| Pups 4 Sale is about four children and their family, who live at Animal Haven, a rescue centre which is located in the bush. The four children are called the Aussie Angels because they save so many animals. In this story Mark was told by a girl that there were hippies in the bush. Thats not all: Alice the dog is having puppies; Mark and Carol, the camel, get lost and they meet someone strange in the bush! It takes a while to get really hooked into the book because its part of a series and I had not read the previous book. However it builds to a really high climax and you dont have to wait much for it, because it comes really quickly. When you get to the highest climax it is really hard to put the book down. I dont really know if I would want to read this book under the covers with a torch but its a really good book! I feel like I can see and hear what the characters are like in my mind. They are so real it seems like you can actually talk with them. You kind of just want to keep reading to know what happens in the end. The dialogue seems so real, that it seems that you can hear them talk. It feels like you are listening in on their conversations. The illustration on the front cover I think would draw a lot of people in. It does not have illustrations through out the book so I would not recommend it for kids who are not good at English, because even though the typing is a good size they might find it hard to read. The language is very appropriate for people who are over the age of ten. The language is very interesting and it creates pictures in my mind. I think this is a read-alone book for animal-lovers. If I didnt have a library to use I would definitely buy this book. If I had children to read to when they were old enough, I would read them this book. I am really glad I read this exciting, and interesting book. Ashlea 12 yrs , Geelong |
| Pups 4 Sale is a short childrens novel written by Margaret Clark and is part of the Aussie Angels series. The Angels (Mike and Meg) and the rest of their family (the Greens) have doubts about the survival of Animal Haven, with it becoming too crowded. To make matters worse for the Greens, rumours of a hippy moving into the forest and putting more animals in danger causes extra tension, worry and problems for the already struggling family. If that isnt enough trouble, Alice, the familys pet dog is having puppies and the Greens arent sure what to do with them. The storyline of the book is quite enjoyable as it is funny at points and problems that are made are always resolved in the end. Pups 4 Sale is quite easy to read and doesnt include illustrations. This is a tale of changes, little twists and finding the right answers in the end. I enjoyed reading this Pups 4 Sale because it was good for a light read and I enjoy reading books about animals. I would recommend Pups 4 Sale to children around the age of 10 years and for those that enjoy reading stories about animals and family life. Fiona, aged 14, Canberra, ACT | |
| If ever I was in a bookshop, and somebody asked me "Can you help me? Im looking for a book for my children, and they all love books about animals, but with a bit of adventure and mystery in it thats easy to read. Do you know any?" "Yes" I would say. "The book I recommend is about a family who runs an animal haven for all types of animals, including emus, birds, dogs and puppies, echidnas, koalas, kangaroos, ducks, cattle, parrots, possums and camels. But things arent going to well for the Angel family, money wise! Will they be able to keep the animal haven going? I think this would be a fantastic book for animal lovers. I am not a huge animal lover but I still think this is a good book. It is a real mixture of adventure and mystery and some bits I found a bit boring because the conversation went on a bit long. Overall I recommend this book to boys and girls aged between 8 and 12. Lucy, aged 11, Canberra, ACT | |
| I thought this book was well suited for its title, it would appeal to most people between the ages of 10 and 20 years. The book is from the series: Aussie Angels. I found that it is not necessary to have read all of the Aussie Angels books, to be able to understand all of the characters, their personalities and abilities. The print is a reasonable size and easy to read. The storyline of the book is superb, doesnt trail off and is a reasonable length. I got drawn into the book, and recommend this book to people who like animals and current events. Robert, Year 6, Canberra, ACT |
