In My Backyard

I think In My Backyard was a very interesting and I loved the illustrations. Anne Spudvilas used paint and oil pastels using lots of colours. Nette has a very creative mind and the text is just the right size so its easy to understand. I liked the way the characters felt about the city because if it was me I wouldnt enjoy living in a loud crowded place because I live in a small neighbourhood and I love it.

The childrens backyard is the stairs of the apartments and they can see the whole city. The children say all they can really hear are planes, trucks, cars and the beep of the cars on a very crowded day which is nearly every day. But they love having the city as their backyard because in the morning they slide down poles and chase cars so the love it so I admire them very much also because they put up with it. The children also say that they love seeing the shop lights flashing and sending messages across the city. They also say how everyone in the street knows them and says hello. It says in the book that they hear birds growling in the sky as the planes passed by. They also say that they peep though holes as the road workers work. I loved In My Backyard.
