It is now time for the students of Australia
to choose their favourite book for 2005.

Any K -12 student residing in Australia is eligible to vote.
They may be in state schools, independent schools, home schools or involved in distance education.
Each student may only vote for one book and may only vote once.
Only books
  •  first published in 2004 or 2005
  •  created by Australian authors and/or illustrators
  •  intended for audiences in the K - 12 range

are eligible for consideration.

Some of these books have been reviewed on this site but all books which meet the criteria are eligible whether they have been reviewed or not.

(Please note that some of the books reviewed on this site are not eligible for consideration.)

The winner will be the title that polls the most votes overall.

In the event of a tie, the tied books will be given to a panel of students for consideration and those panel members will have the deciding vote.

Voting commences on Monday, October 10, 2005 and votes must be received before 6.00pm on Friday, October 21, 2005 to be included.  The winner will be announced on October 24, 2005 to coincide with International School Libraries Day.

To vote, each student records the title of his/her favourite book that meets the criteria.

Teachers tally the number of votes for each title and email these to YARA Votes
Do not have individual students send individual emails as this will lead to congestion and possible inaacuracy.

Please put Y.A.R.A. Voting in the subject line and record the votes in this format ..
Turtle Song 3
The Waterhole 4
Arno the Garbo 1

Please record all titles that receive a vote because the competition has been very close in the past.

Please include the name of the school and the year level of the class.

Individual voters not connected directlyto a school must include their name and age

If you have any queries about the voting procedures please email Barbara
