A boy, his Dad, and his uncles Paul and Carl, go crabbing into the mangroves to catch monster crabs, in Derby, Western Australia. Dad likes to go at high tide, and Derby is famous for having the highest tides in Australia. When they check their pots, a crocodile emerges close by. Once at home, they have crabs for dinner, followed by banana cream pie.

I enjoyed reading this picture book and I would recommend it to children between 6 and 9 years of age.

The ink and watercolour illustrations by Carl Stahlmann, an American who is completing art studies in Derby, add to the story by showing us expressive faces.
I like the way a crab announces each new double-page spread.
