We’ve read Gallop- a-Gallop by Anne Maree Horig. Its theme is adventure and exploration, and we would recommend it for pre-schoolers.

This book is about a young girl and her make believe horse. She travels around her farm visiting all the animals. She visits everyone, from Soxy the dog and her playful puppies to Mother Hen and her cheeping chicks.

It is a good book for pre-schoolers because it has large print and big and bright pictures. It would be good for a first book. The style of painting and colours is collage. This gives the book a rough but interesting look.

The only thing that we thought might be a problem for the younger kids would be the size of the book. We didn’t think that the little kids could hold it with their small hands, but than we thought their parents could hold it or they could put it on the floor to read it.
