This story is about a boy and his day who take a walk along the beaches along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria.

They took a picnic and a bag to put their treasures in. They found shells and feathers, and some driftwood, and even a compass. On one beach they found an old crate that had been washed up on the tide. and on another the wreck of an old car.

After they had lunch, dad had a snooze and the boy looked at his treasures. Then he built something really special from them to remember his walk with his dad.

I think this book gets two stars because it had some good ideas but I didn't like the illustrations. I have been to the Great Ocean Road and I think they could have been more real.

I think it would be good for parents to read aloud because they could talk to their children about the sorts of things you find on beaches, how they got there and what you could do with them.
