Greater Glider, 2003
| This is a review of 'Harry the Hairy Nosed Wombat and other Australian Animal Tales'. The book was written by Jill Morris and illustrated by Tina Wilson. It was published in 2003 by Greater Glider Productions. There are six short stories in this book, and after reading only one of them, I was eager to keep reading. The first story 'Harry the Hairy Nosed Wombat' is about a wombat called Harry, whose burrow is under some rocks. And one day, some workers came to turn the dirt track into a bitumen road, which was to go right through the rocks that covered the entrance to Harry's burrow. So Harry got stuck in his burrow. Finally the workers realised that a wombat lived there and so they built the road around the rocks. This book has many wonderful stories and illustrations and each one is quite short to read. It even has great facts at the end of some of the stories, so as you are reading you are finding out about Australian animals.I think it would appeal to children under the age of 10, because the stories are simple. Perhaps these are good stories to be read aloud. Katharine, aged 11, Victoria.
