My Mum the Pirate HarperCollins 2003 Series: Wacky Families | The book called "My Mum the Pirate" was written by Jackie French. Jackie French has done a great job on this book. She has written it so well I found it hard to put it down. The description within this book make you feel as if you are almost there. The characters are true to life, and you seem to recognise them as people you know. In fact the way in which Jackie French uses descriptive language wants you to read and know more about the characters. The book has a combination of humour adventure and at times is sad- a mixture that works well. I give this book a 10 out of 10 rating because it was so good I could read it again and again. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys funny pirate stories. Jessica 12 North Coast NSW |
| Cecil’s Mum is a pirate. She wears black boots and carries her sword everywhere. She is the captain of The Good Ship ‘Mermaid’. Although they are not bad pirates because they set slavers free. On Cecil’s birthday he can have anything he wants. But he wants to go to I recommend this book for people from the age 7 to 10. |
