Scholastic 2003 | “Remember Me” is about a 12-year-old girl called Amber. Her mother and her father were divorced when she was only 2 years old. She was very upset that she didn’t know her father. She had so many worries on her chest she just didn’t know what to do, so she started a diary. In her diary she wrote all of her worries, for example: one day her mother met a man called Nick. Amber doesn’t really like him. One day something terrible happened. Her mum married Nick. Amber is very upset about her mum marrying someone she doesn’t even like. Usually her mum meets the men, but Amber usually persuades them to leave. One day something amazing happened. Amber finally met her real father. They are amazed to meet each other and start to get to know one another. Amber invites her father to the beautiful pet contest. Then one day some dreadful news came – one of his shops in Brisbane was flooded. He rang Amber and sent his apologies because he had to fly to Brisbane straight away! He misses the pet contest, and then decides not to come back at all. The characters are all realistic and they all have different personalities. I think the illustrations could be a bit more exciting than just butterflies. The size of the print is suitable for older people. I think the book is suitable for ages 8 – 12. I would definitely buy this book and read it a few more times. Lauren 10 years Toowoomba Qld |
