Wings Lothian 2004 | If you think eating fruit is good for you,you may change your mind after reading Wings. This story is about Saffron and her Aunt Joesa. Saffron is reluctant to stay with her aunt because she thinks she is weird. As time goes on Saffron begins to like her aunt more and more, even though shes going through a life changing stage - turning into a butterfly. I found the story weird because Aunt Joesa is turning into a butterfly and so did Saffron in the end. In the story there are really only two characters so the author is able to describe them well to the reader. Although the story is strange it is simple and only has one story line. The illustrations were very interesting to me as they were very lifelike but they didn't help the story but helped visualise the characters. Overall the story was so weird it didn't keep me interested. It was uninteresting and unbelievable to me. It is a book that would be more suitable to girls than boys. As for eating fruit, that is all Aunt Joesa and Saffron ate. This then caused them to turn into butterflies. I think I will stick with fast food! I would rate the book three out of ten.
