Ring of Light written by Isobel Bird was first published in USA by Harper Collins in 2001. For people who believe in witchcraft this is a realistic book for them, and for those who dont this is a fantasy book. But either way it is a fantastic story. It is about three friends who make a wiccan circle.

Ring of Light is a book from the series, Circle of Three. It is a series of emotions, relationships and decision making in life. One of the three friends Cooper decides to abandon the Wicca. The other friend Kate needs Coopers help to save someone very special to her. Is Cooper going to change her mind or leave Kate alone to solve it herself?

Isobel Bird has used appropriate language according to the story. The best part of the story for me was when all three friends had been through some difficulties and realised that life wasnt just about magic and witchcraft. This novel is suitable for mature readers, 14 years and over. My rating for this book is 8 out of 10.

When Cooper wears a necklace with a pentacle, or five pointed star, on it to school, people go crazy. Everyone one associates it with Satanism, but she knows that it is for her Wiccan traditions, as a sign of good luck. Now she, with her friends, has to deal with all of the repercussions of that one little thing. Life will never be the same again

This book is a Sci-Fi / Fantasy, and deals with how witchcraft is considered in the modern world.

I really liked this book. I would recommend it for anyone over about the age of 12, because it deals with some issues that parents may not want younger children reading about, and that some would find down-right disturbing. The book is mostly bases around Wicca, or witchcraft, and goes into quite a lot of detail on their traditions. It uses actual references dealing with witchcraft and Wicca, such as legal cases, where it was established that Wicca is an actual religion.

If you don't like adventure or love stories this is the book for you. This story is set in a small town, mostly at Beecher Falls High School. While the book is about a group of five girls who are starting their first year at high school, it is also about relationships and self image. The girls are into Wicca (witchcraft). Cooper, one of the girls, decided to wear a pentacle around her neck. The students in her classes notice it and think that it is a symbol of black magic. This is where the trouble begins. As Cooper's friends try to help her they become faced with many challenges.

The book shows how the girls struggle with their problems. You will like this book.  It will keep you reading right until the very last page and then you'll long for the sequel.
