| A funny, silly book, Sprung! is a Sydney 2000 comedy. It is a collection of short stories about Fergus. Different segments of his life all the times he did whacky/bad things and got caught. He stuck chewie to the seat belt of the car. His father cut up the football cards he bought with money he stole from his dads jangle box The little illustrations are quirky and fit well with the story. A great real for 10-14 year olds who like a good laugh. Through comedy there are lessons to be learned. Very easy to read, good print size interspersed with pictures. Can be read aloud or alone. I recommend this book to anyone who likes funny stories. Tegan, aged 15, metropolitan NSW |
| Synposis: The story is about the adventures of a boy called Fergus who is about ten years old and all the funny things that happen along the way. I think that children in grades 3 to 8 would enjoy this book. This was an easy book to read because of the large print and I really liked the black and white illustrations, they were all really funny. I really liked the way that the chapters were all different adventures in Fergus life. The stories are based around Fergus school mates and his family I enjoy stories that are based on characters that remind me of people I know. Fergus gets into lots of mischief just like lots of ten year old boys I know. There were two stories which I found really funny. Broometime was a story about Fergus and his school friends who were on a school excursion to see the crocodiles at Broome. The bus stopped at a restaurant called Munchies so that they could all get something to eat for tea but Fergus managed to get left behind when the bus left. Fergus was found by a policeman who looked after him until the teacher came back to collect him. Fergus thought he was going to be attacked by the bats and eaten by the crocodiles he wasnt. Chocolate Cars was about a car trip which Fergus took with his family. They were returning home after a day spent surfing at the beach. Fergus cousin Hamish wanted to go to the toilet so Fergus dad stopped the car and let him out. Hamish couldnt do anything so he got back into the car and went to sleep. A bit later he woke up and found that he had wet himself. Fergus didnt dob him in. This book would be a very funny; one for my teacher to read-aloud to my class. I really liked this book.
